My internship at Oude Molen
I am currently study engineering at university, and I was looking for a unique kind of experience during my break. Oude Molen offered me a chance to manage projects and develop new sustainable ideas. The work to be done here is very diverse, everyday was a new challenge, from managing the pool to creating a 3D model of the entire area.
I soon found my place within the community. There is a great variety of people around the village, each new interaction inspired me in different ways. I also decided to help out Kelly in the village food garden, within the youth development program teaching local kids permaculture.
Staying in the village throughout my time in Cape Town was the best option. I was able to immerse myself in the project, while also having a balance with exploring what the city has to offer. I highly recommend walking up Devil’s Peak and shooting off to a Safari for the weekend! I could accomodate my lifestyle to my needs, and soon called this place home.
If I had three words to describe Oude Molen, they would be creativity, nature and goodwill.
The village community is a fabulous place, and I am honoured to have had the opportunity to be a part of it. Thank you Oude Molen.
